Jim Kovic's Biography Information

Jim was born in Massapequa, New York, a suburb of Long Island on July 15, 1959.  Right away his parents, Patricia and Eli saw him possessed of an array of gifts, namely: creativity, persistance,  and a kind and noble demeanor.  Yet he often struggled in his childhood because no one understood these gifts he was embued with.  Nevertheless, Jim had to labor to discover himself, and the talents he was born with.

Jim's teenage years presented many obstacles that the young lad had to contend with, mainly the social fabric in the high school he attended.  He seemed confused about just how to go about getting a girlfriend.  Yes, Jim could not hold back what nature had provided.  In fact he scored a date with one of the most popular girls in Berner High School.  But, due to his foolishness that ended soon and to Jim's deep embarrassment.  However, he never gave up, and that is a trait that would see him through even more challenging moments that lay ahead.

Jim wasn't able to graduate high school.  He saw for himself an opportunity to go out and explore the world.  He left one summer morning and hitchhiked accross to Denver Colorado.  He met some people there, made strong friendships and worked for a local restaurant.  He continued traveling a few months after to California where he joined the California Conservation Corps and worked hard in state and national parks building trails and helping with flood prevention work.  Then he decided to go on a hiatus and traveled up to San Francisco.  One morning he was passing by a young woman at a table selling books for the Unification Church.  He passed her by yet she started to run after him. She finally caught up with him at the Bart train station.  There she invited him to attend an evening talk sponsored by the Unification Church.  That began a 20 year period that Jim was an active member of the Unification Church whose spiritual leader is Reverend Sun Myung Moon.  Jim spent 15 dedicated years with the church and his experience there was a great impetus for Jim to begin discovering his spiritual path.  However, one thing led to another and Jim decided that the Unification Church no longer could guide him in his spiritual understanding.  Although he had married his wife as a result of a match made by the Rev. Moon he no longer felt compelled to work full time for the church any longer.  Quietly,  and subtley he dropped out of circulation in the church and he and his family moved to Norwich Connecticut where they now reside.
